Amazing TV !! You’ll Love it!, April 30, 2011 – By M. Bawazir

I don’t know from where to start, but this TV is one of the best TV’s I have ever seen. First of all, I had to chose between this TV and the Samsung UN46C6300 46-Inch.

In terms of price, this TV has a reasonable price as to have a lot of features, which includes Samsung apps. The Samsung UN46C6300 46-Inch has less features and cost nearly the same (I paid $65 extra for this TV which also included 3D compared to Samsung UN46C6300 46-Inch).

Its design is also really nice and smooth, it is also really thin which makes also look really nice. You’ll get the feeling of a 46-Inch TV once you install everything. If you think you have time, check this TV in person in any store that carries Samsung TV’s, it is definitely worth it.

The thing that I liked about this TV is the color level specially the black level. Sometimes when you are watching TV you’d think that the TV has shut down! This is how good is the black level in this TV. Also the picture quality is really high (of course by watching HD movies…etc), and really smooth (120Hz), which makes you really enjoy what you’re watching.

This TV has a good feature also which is converting non 3D movies and videos to 3D (you must purchase the 3D glasses which comes separately), but I must note that non-3D movies will not be the same as actual 3D movies, there will be a big difference, (but it is worth a try to play with the settings of the 3D).

Of course there are better TVs out there, but If I would to recommend a TV with a really good quality, features and price, this would definitely be one of them.

I purchased this TV two weeks ago and the picture is really awesome. As already mentioned by some other reviewers the edge backlight technology has some drawbacks, which means if you are looking at the full black screen, there are some light blury spots at the edges. However, when watching TV or a movie you will not find these disturbing, because you will not be able to see unless the full screen is black. You can always dim the light intensity and they will nearly disappear. But the powerful light is just a strength of this TV. Even watching with direct sunlight shining on the screen is possible. And the black is the darkest black I’ve ever seen on a TV with LED or LCD.

I did buy the 3D glasses. Got them from Fry’s for $150, the package of 2 including the 3D movies Shrek and Megamind. I guess they also recognized that the full price close to $500 is way overdone. They also reduced the prices for single glasses. And this is really nice. With the bluetooth technology I did not even once experience any outage, it’s just working smoothly. And the 3D effects are stunning. Yes, the TV can also calculate 3D, it works, but is not as good as real 3D directly from disc. The TV calculates the different layers, but objects would appear to be somewhat flat. Nevertheless, with the right movie this is great fun. 46″ is big enough if you can sit about 8ft away from the screen. Otherwise you should go for the bigger size.

I can only recommend this TV. There might be even better ones but only for much more money. But then, why not buy a new one after some years, using the saved money, and getting always the best technology? I am using an Oppo BDP-93 for playing 3D Bluray. It matches perfectly.

So far i’ve had this 3DTV for almost 1 month now and I think its unbelievable I had a hard time buying a TV set over the internet so this is a first for me but I have to say that I sure am glad I got it. I first seen it on demo at best buy after seeing it being compared to all other TVs I knew this was the way to go, the 2d to 3d option is awesome, it also comes with a usb wi-fi adapter so it connects to the internet and it has lg apps and youtube netflix etc. I was watching avatar on directv in 2d and switched it to 3d on the remote control and the tv made it not just depth 3d but actually like it was orginally filmed with stuff coming out at me, came with 4 pairs of glasses no need to charge them they’re the same as the ones at the movie theaters in fact you can use those in case you mess your own pair up or lose them. This tv is a really nice five stars for sure.

Great Passive 3D, April 21, 2011 – By Cody G Culwell

I have had this TV for about 2 weeks now and continue to be impressed. I first got a glimpse of the TV and its technology at the LG demonstration at BracketTown in Houston during the Final Four, and I was hooked. The LG rep also gave us about 10 extra pairs of glasses while there! The 3D is awesome, and one doesn’t have to deal with the heavy, expensive active shutter glasses. You cannot see any difference in the resolution when watching a 3D as some have mentioned (supposed half resolution with the 3D). So far my family has watched Tron Legacy, Tangled and Despicable Me in 3D and it rocks. The 2D picture is also clear, and I have only occasionally noticed the lines that some others have complained about. I haven’t seen them on any true 1080p content. Instead they rarely show up on Internet content such as Netflix and iTunes downloaded content that generally lacks as much clarity anyway. The 2D to 3D conversion has been nice to play around with as have the Smart TV features. I definitely would recommend this TV.

Hope this helps. I ordered on amazon from PaulsTV on tuesday. no bs on friday 9am it was on in my living room. I set it up saturday morning. It looks great In 2D and with limited 3D sources I was surprised to find that it will upconvert any 2D into 3D. some not alot, adds a little dept to the images .still sweet. I also put there claims to the test. I was able to see 3D from any angle except laying on the floor, but i have a swivel and tilt mount that with 10seconds to adjust will tilt if i wanted to lay down. Note- the mount was overkill as it looks heavy duty and rated to hold 167 lbs. Tv only weighs 50 something punds. But off craigslist for 100 bucks was good deal.

I have not been through all the features but it is obvious to me that this is the latest in tv technology at a reasonable price. also the glasses dont feel weird or make me feel sick. at 15-35 bucks for extras it is worth the price of the tv. there is a better version but not available yet and comes in at 3500 bucks(last I checked I could be wrong).

With 3D Hd content was to be at half resolution but I have not noticed a drop in clarity. picture looks high definition all the time. If you were to notice a picture not as sharp your probably looking too hard for flaws.

I researched for months before I decided to Buy a 3D tv. I found LG to be leading the way in new technology. Samsung is not far behind . both call each other names but make good products and there competition is dropping prices for us. thanks South Korea. sure next year they will cost less and a better model will come out,but keep holing out and you never enjoy 3D At home.

Over all this Tv is awesome. Recommend the protection plan (it is new tech. and may have bugs) and you will not regret it. +BONUS no sales tax online.

I thought last years C8000 were amazing… until I saw these ones that is. The D8000′s are almost night and day 10 times better then the C8000, the black get completely black where if you watch the TV during night, you can only see the parts that are lit. The color is unbelievably vivid and natural… the 3D is by far some of the bets Ive seen… clean, no crosstalk, very smooth, unlike the c8000′s. The only exception here might be D8000 plasma’s, which are also remarkable, but I like these ones due to the lack of a bezel, very stylish and awesome. My only quirk is the remote control, it took me 7 days to figure out how to get it to pair… not cool. These thing’s should come paired out of the box and be much simpler. The TV gets a 5, the Remote gets a 2/5. Its small, cant see the buttons your pressing (stupid, for a $3000 TV) and doesn’t work without frustration to begin with. Not a good thing Samsung, got to get this corrected.

Best LED 3D Display / TV on the Market!, April 3, 2011 – By Simona O’Hare (New York, NY USA)

We just purchased the UN46D8000, Samsung’s latest 240hz, 3D, LED TV. I’ve waited years to buy just the right LED display. Almost pulled the trigger last year when the C series came out, but I’m glad I waited. This display is by far the best LED TV out there. Thin, bright, amazing color, incredible contrast, spectacular blacks (true, deep blacks)! And I’m very picky and waited years to buy the best. I believe that Samsung continues to be the leader in LED TVs. Interface and set up was very easy. It’s also not too heavy. Fantastic build quality. Sleek and modern looking. SMALLEST outside edge bezel of any display out there. Simply the perfect LED TV.

In addition, I had a question for Samsung over the weekend. I went online, got the 800 number and called. No wait! The support person answered my question right away. Incredible service.

You will likely get the best price from ABT Electronics. A rep at Samsung’s display store on Columbus circle in NYC recommended them to me and they were fantastic. Best price (they will negotiate over the phone), free shipping and no sales tax. Unit came with the free 3D starter kit. LED display is well packed and I had no problems connecting it to my new Denon surround sound system and Samsung BD-D6700 Blue-Ray 3D DVD player (also got a great deal on these from ABT).

I recommend getting a Samsung Blue-Ray with this TV. Best to match the brands = fewer compatibility problems.

Don’t hesitate one second if you are considering another LED TV. I spent the last year watching and researching these displays and the D8000 is by far the best.

BTW, normal channels through your cable provider don’t render well on this or any other HD LED TV. You MUST switch out your cable box to an HD model. Time Warner’s HD channels start on 700. All the HD channels are amazing on this TV. Just don’t get worried when you switch to a regular channel and it doesn’t look good. It’s not the LED display.

For an amazing high end system, I recommend this LED display along with the BD-D6700 blue-ray and the Denon AVR-4311CI surround sound receiver with built in amplifiers. It’s all you need in addition to a great set of speakers (remember the speakers are most important so don’t go cheap on the speakers). I got rid of my B&K separate preamp and amplifiers (which were much more expensive) and this system sounds much better and is easier to use!

And don’t forget to buy quality HDMI cables. They are directional, so make sure you connect them in the right manner.

Great picture, poor sound quality, buggy SmartTV portal, March 19, 2011 – By kevin (Portland, OR United States)

This TV has great picture quality, but is very expensive, has tinny sound quality, and has a half-baked connected TV platform (“SmartTV”). Note that this TV does NOT have wireless internet connection built it; you have to buy the separate adapter.

Setting up the wireless connection was a snap, but downloading the SmartTV apps was time consuming and confusing for those that required a separate account set up (Pandora, Netflix, Picassa, etc.). You also have to use an “on screen keyboard”, which is painful and slow when you have to enter email addresses and passwords for each individual app. But the worst experience was the ESPN app, which kept popping up over the TV program and could not be disabled. After 30 minutes on the phone with Samsung tech support (very friendly), I had to reset my SmartTV platform and start over downloading all of the apps and setting them up! Apparently you cannot delete individual apps once you’ve downloaded – a major oversight!

I’m sure you can find a TV with comparable picture quality for half the price, and I don’t think the buggy SmartTV portal is worth the $450 premium.

Simply amazing picture. Easy menus and setup. As for the Apps, Netflix and Hulu both work outstanding. I can find my Dirctv whole house network DVR files on the all share, but can not play back that format of video.

No regrets on this purchase. The video quality is really incredible.

Perfect for my Motorhome, April 20, 2011 – By Babysteps

I mounted this TV in my motorhome using a cantilever mount and I love it. The picture and sound are great. The sound is even better using the headphone out jack and external speakers. The AV, component, and HDMI connections all work perfectly. The remote control is one of easiest to use I have ever seen. It has an HDMI button for immediate access to that input. The USB input is nice. Store all your movies on a thumb drive and you don’t even need a DVD player.

As previously noted, the top of the bezel may come loose,but this shouldn’t be a deal breaker. If it continues to be a problem, I intend to secure mine with a bit of super glue.

I love it. Remodeled our kitchen and wanted a small TV to mount on a wall that would not become a focal point. It’s a great HDTV. Super slim design barely protrudes from the wall. Very light weight. Excellent picture. It’s great that they can cram 1080 pixels into only 22″. And the overall TV design is very simple and clean. Well made.

I installed a power outlet behind it and ran the HDMI cable through the wall. The TV is so slim that it has very little space remaining to route the cables behind it. It has a channel molded into the back. Part of the problem was I did not use a standard wall mount kit – the TV is less than 2″ thick, and I did not want to double that by using a standard wall mount bracket. Turned out great.

Very pleased by both price and product quality, April 16, 2011 – By Old Grizzle

Having both sold and owned a multitude of electronic devices that included Sony, Panasonic and others too numerous to mention and I freely admit to being a Sony lover until this purchase. This set replaces a Sony rear projecting Sony flat screen that required a blub replacement, the cost of which was over 30 percent of what the new set cost me. After comparing the picture quality and features offered by various brands including LG, Sharp and Sony among them, I found Panasonic equaled or exceeded what the competition offered and till now I have no reason to regret my dissension to buy it.

That being said, I am very pleased with Amazon as a seller. Having been a retailer who considered service of prime importance, I hate Box Stores approach to merchandizing that relies on the Hard Sell by their employees and considers the obligation ceases once the item moves out the doorway and becomes the buyers responsibility should a problem surface. Not only did Amazon have my purchase delivered free to my living room in perfect condition, but also guaranteed a replacement should it be defective without the hassles one can expect when dealing with WalMart, Best Buy and others like them.

Would I recommend both the product and the seller? Yes!

Nice TV, no good choices for audio, April 21, 2011 – By Carol4612

I chose the Toshiba because of the tiltable stand and the placement of the dvd slot — left side, and the general quality of the manufacturer. What I didn’t realize when I went for the LED model instead of the LCD, is that this TV has no headphone jack, only an digital optical out. You would need the GefenTV Digital Audio Decoder to connect additional speakers. I don’t know why Toshiba took the headphone jack out of this model when no one is ever going to use such a small TV with a sound system receiver. TV manufacturers could also give up on putting the speakers on the back of the TV, since it makes the sound so muffled. It sounds like a cell phone or something equally not quite there.

Beautiful TV, if you could hear it or realistically connect it to anything.

Amazing Picture and Design, but not perfect, April 16, 2011 – By dc

The UN55D8000 is an amazing TV. The Picture quality, the design and I will add again the picture quality. I went from a high end Panasonic Plasma that has a great picture to an amazing life like picture.

Here are my thoughts after having the TV setup for 2 weeks:

-Design: This is a complete new look for TV’s. The thin edge looks great! It also allowed me to replace a 51″ tv with the 55″ in the same custom cabinet. It fits perfect and the TV only weighs 34 lbs. (5 stars for sure)

-Setup: Easy to setup. the challenge was pairing the keyboard remote. I had to call customer service and they instructed me to pair it within 8″ of the TV. That worked, but the 8″ instruction is not in the manual so I spend a lot of time trying to pair before I called support. The out of the box settings did need some adjustments, but that was easy. They has contrast and brightness at 100% I changed it to 50%.

-Picture Quality: Amazing, real, life like are words that come to mind. This is also where I have my 1 issue with the TV. The picture is great most of the time, but I do get significant MOTION BLUR when watching basketball and sometimes when watching a non sports program. I have called support and they has me try several of the Motion Plus Settings. None were able to fix the motion blur. This is tough for me as I watch a lot of basketball. I’m still trying to resolve this. I have a AV guy coming to check it out next week. This could be a deal killer if I can’t resolve this. I hope it can be fixed as I can’t justify $3000 for a TV that I can’t watch sports on.

-Sound: I have no idea. I have all my audio go through my AVR.

-Smart TV: I was really looking forward to these features, but as I played with them I realized a few things. 1. I run all my components through a Denon ARV then HDMI to the TV from the Denon. this causes a little issue when the TV becomes the source. The new HDMI 1.4 does support ARC (audio return) but it requires input changes every time. Not a big deal but it is an issue. 2. The speed of the Apps are supper slow and I have the TV hard wired directly to the router for internet 3. Some of the Apps do not support the keyboard remote. For example youtube requires you to use the navigator arrows to enter each letter. 4. The link to my desktop for picture and content is painfully slow. Overall I plan to go with a D-Link Boxee or Apple TV for this type of functionality. Nice to have but will not use it on the TV.

-3D: I have not tested this yet. Waiting on my 3D BD to arrive.

Overall I really like the TV and want to keep it if I can resolve the Motion Blur.

I would like to hear from others who may have had and resolved the motion blur issue.

I have shopped before at Amazon site for small items, but this is the first time ordering a big-ticket item – LED TV. I have to admit that Amazon has by far exceeded my expectations. It is just so amazing how Amazon takes customer service so seriously and what an exemplary job is being done in that regard. Thank you!

The TV is awesome, picture quality/features/looks and lot more. It is 21st century and it was about time to integrate gadgets in the tv, to avoid all the clutter to connect to tv. Integrations like Wireless internet, DLNA, Browser, qwerty remote are a move in the right direction. There are other TVs that offer this, but Samsung UN55D8000 has done a superb job in this regard. I got a superb price from Amazon and I am very happy so far (been 3 days). Will update if my opinion changes.

We received the TV within one week of purchase. Delivery was a little bit of an issue because of the dispatcher not contacting me 30 min prior to delivery as promised and this made a bit of a mess with my hectic work day. TV was easy to get set up and has a wonderful picture. The Wireless LAN is a wonderful feature and we use it everyday for Netflix and Amazon Unbox. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the picture quality is on this TV on everything that we watch.

The features on this TV work great and everything is very easy to use. I couldn’t have asked for a better TV and we really are enjoying this purchase very much! I have now ordered a second TV that it the same one as a 42 inch for our master bedroom.

Couldn’t be happier, March 30, 2011 – By Vin

Like everyone else interested in making the big screen purchase, I spent hours every night reading reviews, shopping around, comparing specs and prices, and trying to decide whether I should go lcd or plasma. Ultimately, I ended up just going to the local BB and seeing which one looked and felt right to me. I purchased this beautiful 55in plasma and I couldn’t be happier about it. I’ve had it for over two weeks now and I don’t have a single complaint. The picture is great and the sound is just fine for my living space(apartment). The 2D-3D conversion is alright but you should not expect much from any television’s conversion. The 3D Blu-Ray is a different story – The Ultimate Wave Tahiti is AMAZING (I had to watch it twice because I didn’t follow a word because I was so blown away by the picture) and Resident Evil Afterlife was fun to watch (the 3D at least).

I realized that all the hours I spent reading super detailed reviews was somewhat a waste of time because when it comes down to it, I don’t really care about or even notice the subtle differences that so many people compare. I just wanted a solid tv with great picture at an affordable price and this was it.

The setup was beyond easy. The remote and on-screen menus are very user-friendly.

The widgets all work just fine. Watching youtube videos on a 55in can be entertaining.

My roommate and I are traveling surfers and licensed skydivers so we have plenty of GoPro HD videos that we watch on this tv using the SD card slot(we also watch them through the youtube widget)and they look phenomenal.

BOTTOM LINE: If you want a solid big screen with great picture at the right price then this is it. Highly recommend. If you have any questions then just leave a comment.
